NUST Adventure Club arranged a spectacular event to mark off the ending of 2016, at a height of almost 3000ft above sea level!
The hike to Miranjani has been a flagship event of the Adventure Club, but this time around, a spark was added to this as it was decided to celebrate the last spin of the globe doing what we love; out among the tall pine trees and the spectacular view of the mountains.
The day began with the participants reaching the IESE parking at 06:00 hrs in the morning. The sun had only just begun to fill the horizon with its many shades as the buses assembled and the participants were given the important instructions and were loaded on to the bus.
Once all the necessary arrangements had been completed, the journey began at 07:00 hrs. The trip was made through the Murree Expressway making its way along the slithering highway, climbing up the mountain, offering a ravishing view of the valley below. The participants in the bus took this opportunity to socialize with each other, followed by an exciting and fun-filled game of Antakshari.
Everybody has always heard how good and beautiful Gilgit and Hunza are. You never realise the true worth of this statement unless you experience it yourself. Thus, with plenty of time on our hands, it was time to make this long journey. My most memorable and eventful adventure to date.
There are two different roads that lead to Gilgit. The fastest and easiest one is through Naran and the Babusar Pass. The other road takes you through a region known as Kohistan. Unfortunately, the Babusar pass is covered in snow most parts of the year thus, we were to go through the slow road. We had absolutely no idea what that could mean for us.
This road is somewhat rough and uneven. But there are a lot of small towns and places so you don’t always have to go through all the way at once. One of the largest towns and centers of the region is Besham. Due to its geography and populace, this place is notable for a great deal of economic growth and labor relating to travels and tours.
NUST Adventure Club started the academic year with a refreshing splash in the water mixed with the adrenaline rush of making a high dive in the Khanpur Dam. The event was an energetic success with both boys and girls showing complete participation in embracing their daring side and enjoying their time in the calm water of the dam.
