The NUST Adventure Club: Mushkpuri Trip 1.0

The NUST Adventure club, has always been, and will always be committed to giving NUST students a chance to go on some truly memorable adventures. With this aim in mind NAC organized: “The Hike to Mushkpuri”.

Mushkpuri is the second highest hill of Galyat. It is located in the Hills of Nathiagali in District Abbottabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.  The splendid hike starts from nathiagali, and is an easy 3 hour trek of about 4 kilometers, with absolutely magnificent sceneries all the way to the top.

The event took place on the 18th of October, 2014. The response for this event in particular, tends to be astounding every year, and once again our tickets ran out days before the actual event. We accommodated a relatively large number of 60 students at the hike this year: 30 boys and 30 girls.

The participants departed from NUST at seven o clock in the morning and took a three hour route to the Mushkpuri hotel, located in Nathiagali. Upon reaching the hotel area, the participants were all given a chance to get some breakfast, and most of the prospective hikers, could be seen munching on the traditional delicacy of “Anda Paratha”. From there onwards the participants took a three hour hike on a rocky trail in the national park to the peak. The view from the top of Mushkpuri, was truly astounding, and left, right and centre; students could be seen both taking pictures and getting their pictures taken. The lush green meadows, the roaming clouds and blue skies combined to create a truly fantastic atmosphere.

On the way back from the top, a smaller trail was taken and upon reaching the base, the participants and the team helped themselves to a delicious lunch at the Mushkpuri hotel. The buses departed the hotel along with the participants at six o clock in the evening. After another three hour drive the group was brought back to NUST by nine o clock.

Through the hard work of our team and the willingness of participants to follow instructions, the event was a roaring success. NAC would like to pay special thanks to the faculty sponsor, event head, office bearers and all other organizers on bringing about this event successfully. The NUST Adventure Club promises to bring even bigger, and better, events to the NUST student body in the near future.
