After the success of ‘Hike to Mushkpuri 1’, NUST Adventure Club organized another trip to Mushkpuri top on Sunday 10th November, 2013, which was open to all students of NUST. It was a cold day with extreme weather conditions on the track. Participants, along with their proper hike kit, departed from NUST around 6:30am and reached Mushkpuri hotel at 11am. From there they hiked to Mushkpuri top which was expected to last for two and a half hours but due to the track being covered in snow the hike lasted for about 3 hours.
A surprise was planned for the participants and on the way to Mushkpuri hotel buses stopped at Salgarah Bridge where the participants who won the lucky draws were offered rappelling from the bridge. Everyone was excited about experiencing something they had never tried before. Some people were a little scared of it and had second thoughts about it but in the end made it and witnessed one of the greatest experiences of their lives.
Most of the people, who hadn’t been on the track in such extreme conditions, were surprised because it was all covered in snow which made it slippery and difficult. Although it was pretty hard to hike in such conditions, the participants dealt with the difficult track by the help of organizers and experienced people around them. The stamina and patience of the participants were admirable. When finally everyone reached the top after stumbling and falling on the snow, the scenic beauty at the top made everyone believe that it was all worth it.
Different route was taken on the way back which was shorter than the previous one. Participants reached down to Mushkpuri hotel by 5:00 PM where dinner was served. After spending an hour there, the buses left for NUST and reached by 8:30 PM.
After an array of successful events, NUST Adventure Club is proving itself to be one of the most valiant societies of NUST and is working hard to arrange more events for the enthusiasts.
